P-Glycoprotein (PGP) Assays | Abzena

Pgp Assay

P-Glycoprotein 1 (Pgp) is a cell membrane protein that functions as an ATP-dependent drug efflux pump and plays an important role in multi-drug resistance.

In this assay, recombinant human Pgp is incubated in the presence of compounds and ATP. At the end of the reaction, unmetabolised ATP is detected as a luciferase-generated luminescent signal. Compounds that interact with Pgp can be identified as stimulators or inhibitors of its ATPase activity. Compounds that are substrates for transport by Pgp typically stimulate its ATPase activity.

Working with Abzena

Abzena’s undertakes bioassays on behalf of clients as standalone projects or as part of larger development projects. We focus on developing the correct bioassay to help you understand your molecule and will help guide you in the correct.

MMAE and MMAF, known Pgp substrates, induce a dose-depend increase in Pgp ATPase activity.
