Overall Responsibilities

The key responsibility of a Project Manager is to ensure successful delivery to timeline, scope and budget of client projects at Abzena. Collaborates with Technical Operations, Program Management, Proposals, Finance, Accounting and Business Development teams.

Typical Duties Include:

  • Collaborates with Technical Operations, Program Management, Proposals, Finance, Accounting and Business Development teams to achieve successful project delivery for global client base
  • Manages a portfolio of projects for Abzena’s global clients
  • Project activities will be predominantly based at Abzena’s Cambridge site, but the role will also involve communication with, co-ordination of and responsibility for activities at Abzena’s US sites, particularly in the handover phase of a project
  • Accountable for the accurate and timely entry and maintenance of project records into Abzena’s IFS ERP system and supporting systems
  • Communicate with Business Development / Sales team to understand incoming projects’ scope, priority and timings
  • Assemble and inform delivery teams across all relevant functions at project start
  • Plan, run, document and follow up on internal and external Kick-Off Meetings, Joint Team (Technical) meetings and Project Status Updates
  • Share information, data and decisions between Abzena and client teams in a timely and accurate manner and ensure actions and follow ups are captured
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders advising of changes or updates to critical project information such as timelines, materials management and costs
  • Create amendments to project scope in collaboration with technical and sales teams, ensuring agreement of scope with client.
  • Ensure full financial alignment / invoicing vs deliverables is carried out
  • Close out projects / stages correctly and ensure client is supported with their program’s progression, whether internally or externally
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned and aligned with the overall Project Management function and responsibilities within Abzena

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Life Sciences degree to BSc level or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project will be a benefit and other Office suite software, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, with aptitude to learn new software and systems. Full training will be provided on in-house software applications
  • Specialised Project Management training or certification a strong advantage (e.g. PMP / PRINCE2)
  • Experience working in any role in a drug development or scientific service sector including client facing experience
  • Experience with enterprise, resource, planning (ERP) platforms an advantage
  • Must have excellent time management, communication and organizational skills
  • Must be comfortable directing / assigning activities within a multi-specialised matrix team, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of projects
