Characterisation of Drug Resistance

Some drug resistant cell lines are commercially available but more relevant MDR models can also be generated at Abzena using your cell line and compound of choice.

Typically, drug resistant cell pools are characterised at regular intervals for resistance to the compound in viability assays. Expression of MDR markers is also monitored alongside retention of Pgp substrates in the modified cells.

Characterisation of Parental and Docetaxel resistant prostate cancer cell line: Expression of three MDR markers was shown to be upregulated on the resistant cell line by flow cytometry. The anti-proliferative effect of Docetaxel was also reduced on the resistant cell line when compared to the parental line.
