Abzena COVID-19 Coronavirus Risk Assessment

What are the hazards?
Spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus

Who might be harmed?
• Staff
• Visitors to the Abzena premises
• Cleaners
• Contractors
• Delivery Drivers
• Vulnerable groups – Elderly, Pregnant workers, those with existing underlying health conditions

Controls Required:
Abzena follows the guidance and orders provided by each site’s government and consults and involves its staff on the steps taken to manage the risk of coronavirus in our workplace.

Staff follow Abzena’s strict health and safety protocols, and we have instructed everyone who can carry out their work duties from home to do so. For any staff who do come to work, they must check they are not experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 before coming to the workplace, and we have implemented mandatory self-reporting and on-site temperature screening with response protocols in place should a colleague be symptomatic at work.

We have implemented social distancing measures including separation of workstations, flexible work schedules, and business travel restrictions. We have placed appropriate signage throughout our facilities to inform all staff and visitors of what precautions to take, and we require all visitors to complete a COVID-19 Visitor Questionnaire prior to coming onsite.

Staff and visitors are reminded on a regular basis to wash their hands according to guidelines and we have ensured hand washing facilities are in place and fully stocked. Hand sanitizer effective against COVID-19 and face masks are available to all staff and visitors. We have also increased the cleaning and frequency of disinfecting objects and surfaces that are touched regularly.

Abzena’s management continues to provide mental health and wellbeing awareness to staff and an open-door policy for those who need additional support.

During the COVID 19 outbreak, Abzena will ensure measures are in place to work safely.

To Our Valued Partner,Last updated 09:30 GMT 25th March 2020

As public announcements are made and countries move to “non-life sustaining” business closures, “essential critical infrastructure” and “key workers in a critical sector” definitions, we want to re-assure you that we are continuing to operate at all three Abzena locations.   We continue to monitor these developments and will notify our employees and our valued partners if there is any change in government regulations, orders or decrees that will require change to our business operations.

Abzena designs, develops and manufactures drugs and vaccines to prevent and treat life threatening disease including infectious disease (e.g. viral and bacterial infections), cancer and severe inflammatory conditions (e.g. asthma and COPD). We are in active discussions with a number of developers in applying our services to tackle COVID-19 through expedited drug and vaccine development and support the manufacture and supply of these drugs.

Additionally, we have provided all employees with guidelines in order to ensure their health and safety, including guidance on self-quarantining, social distancing, self-monitoring and heightened cleaning practices.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me, your Business Development contact or fill out our contact form here should you have further questions.

Thank you for your support as we navigate through this global emergency. Our priority is to keep our employees safe and healthy while we continue our operations.

With warm regards,

Kimball Hall
Chief Operating Officer
